Frequently Asked Questions

The SODAE Dental Assisting Program does not qualify to receive federal aid. It is not an accredited program (no college credits available). SODAE is licensed by the Oregon Department of Education, Private Career Schools. Instructors are also licensed by the Oregon Board of Dentistry to teach Radiology, and Sealant Placement for EFDA’s (no licensing is required for DAI, DAII and EFDA).

Total tuition is $6995. Tuition must be paid in full before starting the program unless signed up for our Payment Plan. Student will also get a 5% discount for paying in full which brings that down to $6645. Student will also pay a $50 registration fee with the tuition for the program. Tuition includes all textbooks used in the courses. Additional expenses are Student Insurance ($40), and state testing fees (appx. $750).

Many students have received help with tuition from WorkSourceRogue.

Also, we have partnered with Square to except Credit Card payments! This however does come with a 3% processing fee for all charges.

Our payment plan is here to help break up the payments into 3 smaller prolonged amounts.

Your first payment of $1750.00 will be due upon enrolling in the program. In addition, a one-time non-refundable application fee of $50 is also due upon enrolling ($1800 total).

Your second payment of $1750.00 is due at the end of Dental Assisting 1 .

The third payment of $3500.00 is due at the end of Dental Assisting 2.

Students must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Students must provide a driver’s license for ID, and must have a valid Social Security number.

This program is part-time and designed for the working student (Monday and Thursday evenings and/or Saturday labs in Radiology).

Our program is about 8 months long. We bring a compact structure to our classroom to help you learn and retain all the information needed to get you started and on you way to a new career without spending 2 years in school.

After completing the 4 courses, the student is prepared to take the DANB Radiology Health and Safety, Oregon Basic, and Oregon Expanded Functions Exams. SODAE does NOT gear the student to become a CDA (nationally recognized certification). It is not required in Oregon, does not earn the student a higher salary or make them more desirable as a possible employee. It does require annual recertification with continuing ed. requirements, which can be costly. SODAE gears students for Expanded Function Certification, which is their key to earning top dollar as a Dental Assistant.

Instruction begins September of each year. Registration begins in April.

No. However, many students from Grants Pass attend SODAE. Once you connect with other students, you may be able to commute together.

If you are wondering about the success of SODAE’s DA Program, you can speak to just about any of the local dentists (Medford area). Most of them have hired SODAE students. SODAE produces a high-quality dental assisting student, who is ready to assist upon completing the program. Instructors have many years in the field.
